Response to the GPhC exam postponement

We are working closely with our partners and colleagues to review the impact of COVID-19 on the pharmacy workforce and keep our learners informed.

Following the recent General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) announcement (26 March) to postpone both the June and September 2020 pre-registration pharmacist examinations, we have published a joint statement (see below) with NHS Education for Scotland and Health Education and Improvement Wales. Our statement outlines our support for the proposed approach and our continued engagement in exploring the processes needed to support current pre-registration pharmacists.

Mental Health and Wellbeing

We recognise that many trainees feel their mental health and wellbeing has been affected by the impact of the COVID-19 emergency. We encourage you to seek support from your tutor, regional training provider and local HEE pharmacy teams. The following resources, see attachment, are also available to support pharmacists and pre-registration trainees during this challenging time. Your GP will also be able to offer support and refer you to other services.
