Transformation

We launched a process for organisations and systems across the region to bid for funding to support specific workforce transformation initiatives either within their organisations, or in collaboration with local system partners. This process aims to support the scale, spread and adoption of best practice and innovative ways of working across the region.
System wide and individual partnership projects were welcomed to support:

The initial launch of a specific project or programme of work

Scale and spread of an already established project or programme of work

Robust evaluation of a current project or programme of work

Prospective applicants were requested to complete a Project Proposal Document summarising the proposed project and intended outputs. The HEE LaSE team were delighted to receive over fifty project proposals from across the region, many of which displayed innovation and scope for great transformation work across the profession.

The themes that emerged across the project submissions have been categorised into 4 main areas:

To support the ambitions of the NHS Long Term Plan and the recent ‘We are the NHS: People Plan 2020/21 action for us’, the HEE mandate is focused around developing a 21st century workforce with the right skills, values and behaviours to ensure high quality care for patients. Central to this support is also the opportunity for HEE to work with stakeholders to act as an enabler for local workforce transformation initiatives.

The initiatives and ideas fall within the following areas:

Advanced Practice

Early Careers (Pre-registration and Foundation Pharmacist) Development

Learning Disabilities and Autism

Mental Health

Pharmacy Technician Workforce Development

Primary Care and Community Pharmacy Worforce Development

Quality in Education and Training

Service Development and Workforce Transformation

After careful consideration and review, projects were selected based on the ability to support development of the pharmacy workforce as per the HEE mandate and business plan and where the projects had clearly defined outputs, opportunities for growth, system wide development and lastly innovative ways to tackle some of the educational infrastructure issues we are facing in the midst of the pandemic.
